Visiting the School of Communication
To schedule a visit of the School of Communication call 202-885-2061 and ask about setting up a prospective student meeting. A prospective student and family can meet with an SOC representative(s) at 1:00p.m. and 1:30p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
American University also offers a number of opportunities for you to come and see the campus:
Preview Days are AU's premier open house events for prospective students and families. During a Summer Preview Day you and your family will: meet current AU students and faculty, tour the campus with a student ambassador, learn about academic programs, the career center, study abroad, campus life, scholarships, financial aid and more. SOC students are even able to create a 30-minute talk show in the Media Production Center.
Day Visits are designed to give you a glimpse of the true college experience. You will have the opportunity to sit in on a class with a current AU student and have lunch in our dining hall. You may choose to take a tour and attend an information session or meet with an academic advisor in your school of choice. We try to accommodate individual preferences, but you may need to be flexible due to class and advisor availability.
Day in the Life programs will give you the opportunity to attend a lecture by an AU professor, take a tour of campus and dine and network with faculty, staff and students.
