Join SOC and the Center for Environmental Filmmaking (CEF) for a reception and screening of Lois Lipman’s award-winning documentary film about Hispanic and Indigenous communities impacted by the Trinity bomb testing, "First We Bombed New Mexico." A Q&A with the filmmaker and featured activist Tina Cordova, moderated by CEF Executive Director Maggie Burnette Stogner, will follow the screening. RSVP Here

As we struggle to adequately address the climate crisis, many of the most prominent efforts have not only fallen short of their aims, but worsened inequality. But beneath society's dominant climate stories, solutions that challenge this status quo exist--many of which are led by people who face a host of challenges from hurricanes to evictions. In this overview of her work, Professor Donald will talk about her research into the histories of environmental injustice that shape the climate conversation, her work to find better climate stories, and her tips for better climate conversations.
