Eco-Comedy Video Competition Spring 2015

Winner of the 2015 Eco-Comedy Video Competition!

-Announcement from Chris Palmer-

On behalf of The Nature Conservancy and the Center for Environmental Filmmaking, I'd like to congratulate Patrick Webster, the winner of this year's Eco-Comedy Video Competition!

Patrick won both the Grand Prize and Viewer's Choice awards for his film, DUDE! Or The Blissful Ignorance of Progress, a tongue-in-cheek, cleverly simple exploration of mankind's relationship with the environment. You can watch his film online here. Congratulations, Patrick!

Patrick's film was accompanied by five other stellar finalists:
Mother Nature (Julia Marie Myers and Day Al-Mohamed)
Water in the Wild (Kimberly Grob)
Water Pressure (Alex Miller)
Quick Tip Couple: Conserving Water (Marty Johnson and Mark Odlum)
SEASPN - Clean Water, Healthy Reefs (Jack Adams)

Thank you to The Nature Conservancy for sponsoring this year's competition and for donating the $2,000 prize. We had 60 entries produced by talented filmmakers from all over the world. There were many hilarious films not recognized in the list of finalists, so I encourage everyone to browse the full list of films here.

I'm very grateful to Alexander "Zan" Gillies who did a superb job managing the program this year. The Eco-Comedy Video Competition is an annual event created seven years ago by the Center for Environmental Filmmaking to encourage the use of humor to spur conservation. We believe that comedy can help people take environmental issues more seriously.

I would like to thank each and every filmmaker who submitted a film this year. Your passion and humor embody the mission of the Center for Environmental Filmmaking: to create art that makes a positive difference in the world.

Thank you all for your help in the fight for the environment. Information about the 8th annual Eco-Comedy Video Competition will be available in the late fall on our website: www.EnvironmentalFilm.org.
