NEW: Student Filmmaker Scholars Program - APPLY NOW for June 24 - July 12 session!
Discover the World of Communication in partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is excited to announce scholarship opportunities for our Student Filmmaker Scholars Program. Scholars will learn about scriptwriting, lighting design, sound recording, pre-production planning, directing actors, and editing. The three-week program concludes with a screening of student made films.
The Student Filmmaker Scholars Program begins on June 24th, 2013 and ends on July 12th. Classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Interested applicants should complete and submit a scholarship application by June 13th, 2013. Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 20th.

The following scholarships are closed for the 2013 DWC session
DWC Scholarship - Ten partial scholarships available.
- Must be eligible for free or reduced price school meals (as documented by a school counselor)
- Send current report card/transcript (minimum 2.8 GPA)
- Counselor/Teacher Recommendation Form
- Student essay indicating interest in attending the program
- Completed DWC Registration Form
Scholarship applications are due by March 1, 2013. Scholarship recipients will be notified via email by April 1.

Private Donor Scholarship - Three ($775) scholarships available
- Send current report card/transcript
- Counselor/Teacher Recommendation Form
- Student essay indicating your interest in attending the program
- Parent statement indicating need for financial assistance
- Must be a sophomore or junior in the Fall before the summer program
- Completed DWC Registration Form
Scholarship applications are due by March 1, 2013. Scholarship recipients will be notified via email by April 1.
D.C. Metropolitan Area Scholarship - Ten ($775) scholarships available. $100 participation fee to be returned to student if attendance is 100%
- Must be eligible for free or reduced price school meals (as documented by a school counselor)
- Send current report card/transcript (minimum 2.8 GPA)
- Send school attendance report for school year
- Counselor/Teacher Recommendation Form
- Student essay indicating your interest in attending the program
- Completed DWC Registration Form
Scholarship applications are due by March 1, 2013. Scholarship recipients will be notified via email by April 1.
Scholarship recipients pay a fully refundable $100 participation fee to the Discover the World of Communication Program. This $100 participation fee will be refunded on last day of program if the student has been on time and in the class every day. Participation fees not refunded will go directly to scholarships the following summer.
