- Paula Weissman is a full-time professor of Public Communication. Weissman joins the faculty from Johns Hopkins University’s M.A. in Communication program, where she served as a faculty member and administrator since 2005. At Johns Hopkins, she developed and taught courses in research methods, health communication, public relations theory, and media effects. Prior to 2005, Weissman worked in the consulting industry with a variety of private and public sector clients on health and social change initiatives. Her experience includes conducting formative and evaluation research for several national health communication campaigns, including campaigns to encourage physical activity, improve nutrition, and increase cancer screening behaviors. Weissman’s research interests include health and risk communication with an emphasis on mass media messages and effects.
