A Message from Russell Williams
The Summer in L.A. session for 2007 featured some of our top alumni talent in the industry in an 8-week session in the City of Angels. The session consisted of three evening seminars per week, academic component and five days of “field experience” at top companies in the show business arena, including Warner Bros. TV, Capitol Records, Artist International Management and Vh1. In some cases our alumni requested several student interns before the summer got started, and one lucky L.A. transplant started working for Adam Friedman’s Traveling Light Productions at the conclusion of the session.
For most of our sojourners, the Wednesday evening sessions provided the "eye-popping” and “wow” factor as we traveled to the board rooms of the power elite. When you are in the presence of a super-agent like Scott Lambert of William Morris, or MGM’s head of distribution, Clark Woods, writer-director Nancy Meyers, or DreamWork’s co-head of Television, Darryl Frank and the CW Network’s CFO Mitch Nedick, you realize that you can get there from here. One of our favorite alums, Robert “Morty” Morton stressed how important the connections you make here on campus are in forging long-lasting successful partnerships in the future.
If your plans in anyway include venturing out to the West coast, learning insider information of the entertainment industry, and need a compass with which to help navigate the industry, then Summer in L.A. is a must. It provides a unique opportunity for the student to reach forward to some of our best, brightest and very powerful alums in Hollywood who, in turn, reach back.
