Camera operator, floor manager, director, producer, master control, and audio engineer — students do it all and more with American University film and media arts professor Sarah Menke-Fish. This hands-on course allows students the opportunity to pitch their original short tv series concepts, to be aired on NBC4-Washington. After completing her TV Studio Production course, Menke-Fish wants students to leave with an understanding of the production process and industry experience.
Menke-Fish also created and teaches Cross Cultural Film and Video Production, in which students team with with their counterparts at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, to produce mini-documentaries of cultural, social, environmental, or political interest. Students travel to Mexico, Costa Rica, and other locations as part of international production teams, with the opportunity to premiere their documentary at the embassy of that country at the close of the semester.
