Investigative Journalism Fellow Brendan McGarry Asks the Hard Questions
Brendan McGarry, MA/'07 has come a long way from writing articles for his hometown newspaper in Saratoga Springs, NY. As a journalism graduate student and Center of Public Integrity fellow, McGarry has written several in-depth, investigative journalism articles since arriving in Washington. Among them is an analysis of the political giving of Samuel Zell, the prospective owner of the Tribune Media Co., and an exposé about FCC Commissioner Deborah Tate, who received talking points about the Sirius-XM radio merger from an opponent of the deal, Clear Channel. McGarry also wrote an investigative report, for Professor Charles Lewis' In-Depth Journalism class, about a controversial arms deal with Pakistan approved by the White House.
