Early Decision Round I Application Deadline Extended
American University has extended the deadline for its Early Decision Round I application for prospective first-year undergraduate students applying for the 2014-2015 academic year to Friday, November 22.
The original deadline was Friday, November 15, but challenges with the Common Application prompted AU to extend the deadline. Numerous other colleges and universities have also extended their respective early decision deadlines because of problems with the Common App.
AU has opted not to update its deadlines as they appear in the Common App system, but the Office of Admissions maintains that any application for Early Decision Round I received by Friday, November 22, will not be considered late and will qualify as having met the priority deadline.
November 22 is also the new deadline for Early Decision Round I applicants to submit their CSS (College Scholarship Service) Profile to apply for financial aid.
Wednesday, January 15, 2014, remains the deadline for AU’s Early Decision Round II and Regular Decision.
The Office of Admissions recommends that applicants who continue to experience difficulties with the Common App contact Common App tech support representatives who will then assist applicants via email on the Common App website. Given the high volume of inquiries, a response from Common App tech support may take up to 24 hours.
“We hope prospective students will not let any temporary technological issues dampen their enthusiasm for applying to AU,” said Greg Grauman, assistant vice provost for undergraduate admissions at American University. “There are countless advantages to studying here and we encourage applicants to complete their applications and send their supporting materials by Friday, November 22.”
Prospective students with questions about AU’s admission requirements or the university’s decision to extend the application deadline may contact the Office of Admissions at email@example.com or 202-885-6000.
