About Us
The AU Film Society is a club primarily designed to help facilitate networking amongst undergraduate and graduate film students, SOC film and media professors and staff, and AU students with a passion for film and filmmaking. The Film Society is also responsible for hosting film related events on campus, including networking junctions, screenings, and speakers. Past speakers have included actors Edward Norton, Topher Grace, and Dan Fogler. Film Society is open to all SOC students, regardless of major.
Meet the Co-Presidents
Ryan Williams
Ryan Williams is a junior in the SOC, majoring in public communication. A Los Angeles native, Ryan has a background in film and videomaking that includes his short film, Tar Art, that was nominated for Best Student Film at the 2010 Burbank International Film Festival. He is currently employed by the SOC Hub, and is an intern for Magnolia Pictures. Ryan co-founded the Film Society with Matt Gohn, alongside the current e-board of Emmett McGregor, Meghan Reynolds, and James Paul.
Matt Gohn
Matt Gohn is a junior in the SOC, majoring in film and media. Born and raised in nearby Baltimore, Matt has prolific experience in fictional and non-fictional narrative filmmaking. He is also an employee of the SOC Hub, as well as the director of AU SUB Cinema, and is currently preparing for the spring break Cross-Cultural Film and Video Production trip to Costa Rica, where he will be filming documentary footage. Matt co-founded the Film Society with Ryan Williams, alongside the current e-board of Emmett McGregor, Meghan Reynolds, and James Paul.
