Caroline Herter: Outstanding Intern

Caroline Herter, an outstanding intern

Soon after graduation, Caroline Herter moved to San Francisco to work for the Kaiser Family Foundation, a source of information for health care policy debates and a leader in public health advertising campaigns. SOC faculty played important roles in her success. While pursuing her master’s degree in Public Communication, Herter won an internship in corporate communications at National Public Radio with support from political consultant Dotty Lynch, her research methods professor. SOC Professor Kathryn Montgomery, supervised Herter’s thesis on media literacy and online technologies.

“I came to SOC to position myself for a career in the nonprofit sector,” Herter says. “I got everything I was looking for and more.”
