Michael Jee, President
Michael is a second-year M.A. candidate in the Film and Media Arts program. In 2007, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree in Communications Studies and Political Science. As SOC President, he will work to foster good relationships among students by organizing social events while working to provide professional mentoring and potential job opportunities through networking events with alumni. Professionally, he hopes to write and direct narrative films with diverse characters in compelling stories. Paul Mozzocci, Vice President
Paul is working toward a master’s degree in the Strategic Communication Weekend Program. He received his undergraduate degree in Speech Communication from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. Paul’s professional resume consists of producing large scale galas, donor and corporate sponsor events, museum exhibition openings, government affairs meetings and is currently the Director of Special Events at WAMU 88.5. Kelsey Marsh, Treasurer
A second-year graduate student at American, Kelsey is pursuing her MFA in Film & Electronic Media. In 2009 she graduated cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas with a BA in Communications - Radio/TV (emphasis in production) and Political Science. During her undergraduate study, Kelsey worked as a DJ and news correspondent at the campus radio station and a producer/director/news reporter at the TV station. She also gained experience interning at the CW33 News station in Dallas and worked as a Production Assistant on two prime-time reality TV shows. After graduating, Kelsey accepted her invitation to serve in the Peace Corps working as a community health and economic development volunteer in the Kingdom of Lesotho. Monika Popow, Secretary
Monika just finished her first year as a weekend master's student in Public Communication. In 2007, she graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration-Marketing. During the week, Monika uses the skills she's learned in the classroom in her role as associate director of enrollment marketing at AU. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, running, exploring the city, and playing with her cat, Mariah. As secretary, Monika looks forward to meeting fellow SOC graduate students and hopes to facilitate more opportunities for full-time and weekend students to network and get to know one another.
