Washington Post Welcome Week

The Washington Post

Incoming first year students pose during their visit to The Washington Post as a part of Media by Metro, a Welcome Week program for new students taking place the week before classes each August.

Media by Metro: Program Details

If you are an incoming first year or transfer student looking for an exciting Welcome Week program, Media by Metro may be for you.

You probably know that Washington, D.C. is one of the most politically powerful cities in the world, but did you also know it is an international media hub and one of the largest documentary production markets in the country?

Learn more about the fields of communication (journalism, film & media arts, public relations) from AU alumni and media professionals in the District during site visits to communication and media organizations. Past site visits have included organizations such as the Washington Post, Discovery Communication, the National Geographic Channel, NBC 4 TV, and Porter Novelli. Learn how to use information gained at these site visits to support your career planning process during a workshop with the School of Communication Career Advisors.
