Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele and Democratic Leadership Council Chairman Harold Ford Jr. verbally sparred over current political topics Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009. Improving the Regulation of Lobbying (2009)
The Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies and the Center for American Progress hosted a symposium titled "Undue Influence?: Improving the Regulation of Lobbying" Norm Eisen, special counsel to the president for ethics and government reform, was the keynote speaker. Lobbying Reform Summit (2006)
CCPS and the Committee for Economic Development cosponsored a major conference on lobbying reform Jan. 26, 2006 at the National Press Club. The keynote speaker was then Senator Barack Obama. Other guests included former Indiana Representive Lee Hamilton, former Texas Senator Martin Frost, Democracy 21 president Fred Wertheimer, Campaign Legal Center president and general counsel Trevor Potter, CCPS director Prof. James Thurber, and CED Senior Vice President and Director of Research Joseph Minarik. Ceasefire on Health Care (2005)
CCPS hosted a dialogue between Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, to discuss health care reform. Former Senator Breaux developed this series in conjunction with CCPS. Ceasefire on Healthcare | Ceasefire on Healthcare 2
