Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies

Interim Director's Message

Candice Nelson, professor of government

Welcome to the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies! We have an exciting year planned, and I hope you can join us for many of our events. We have three forums in the fall focused on the 2016 elections. Our first forum, cosponsored with the Women & Politics Institute, was a pre-election panel focused on the 2016 presidential election. Other forums include What Happened and Why: AU Experts Analyze the 2016 Election and Tales from the Trail: AU Alumni Share Their Experiences in the 2016 Elections. Both forums are also cosponsored with the Women & Politics Institute.

This year CCPS will also host the SPA Latino Scholars Speakers Series. The first two speakers will be Professor Francisco Pedraza and Professor Aileen Cardona-Arroyo, who will come to AU in November. We will bring additional speakers to campus during the spring semester. Please check our website for updates.

In the spring, CCPS will sponsor a series of forums focusing on the new presidential administration. We will also host programming to encourage civic engagement.

Please feel free to contact the Center about any of our programs.

Thank you

Candice Nelson
Interim Director, Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies
