Bio
Dr. Beren is a visiting research professor in the School of Public Affairs at American University. He received his PhD degree in Security Strategies from National Security University (police academy) in Turkey in 2010. He was previously a visiting scholar at University of Cincinnati, School of Criminal Justice. His research interests mostly concentrate on democratic policing, counter-terrorism and intelligence. He has a broad range of teaching experience in police ethics, counterterrorism and intelligence. He has authored four books named “Democratic Policing”, “Police Ethics”, “Police and Intelligence Ethics”, and “Homeland Security Intelligence”.
