Kathleen Cavanaugh

- A graduate of the M.S. in Organization Development program, Dr.Kathleen Cavanaugh holds the Ed.D. degree from George Washington’s School of Education and Human Development and a B.S. in Business Administration from George Mason. A paper derived from Dr. Cavanaugh’s dissertation on organization identity (Who were we then? Who are we now? A qualitative analysis of analysis of the relationship between organizational identity and collective memory in a Federal agency) received special recognition at the Academy of Management. Over nearly 30 years, Dr. Cavanaugh worked as an internal consultant for the U.S. Department of Energy, most recently as an OD specialist. Her work focused on quality improvement, strategic planning, and numerous agency initiatives. Recently retired, Dr. Cavanaugh belongs to a 3-person team that teaches Applied Research Methods (formerly Methods of Problem-Solving) in AU/NTL. She is a specialist in qualitative research methods and brings the important perspective of a long-term internal OD practitioner.
