Matthew Wright

• Professor Wright has taught courses on American politics, public opinion, political psychology, immigration, and political methodology. In his research, he has explored numerous topics relevant to American politics and comparative politics more generally. These include: the causes and implications of political identity; immigration, assimilation, and citizenship policies; the politics of ethnic diversity; national identity and patriotism; religion and politics; political culture; social capital, civic engagement, and trust, and U.S. voting behavior.
  
  He joined American's University's Department of Government in July, 2011. Before that, he spent one year as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. His PhD was awarded by the University of California, Berkeley in 2010.
  
  In his spare time, he can hold his own on guitar, dabbles in photography, and is a semi-competent DJ. He also enjoys college sports, and bragging about his vast and impeccably-curated music collection.
