More than 40,000 students have participated in Washington Semester, Washington Mentorship, Graduate Gateway, Washington Internships for Native Students, Summer Internship, and our other programs since the Washington Semester was introduced in 1947. Our alumni play many important roles in our school including participating in alumni events, encouraging others to become involved in our programs, serving as mentors and internship supervisors, and as guest speakers. Alumni are also encouraged to consider SPExS for their lifelong learning opportunities, such as our GRE Test Prep, Graduate Gateway, and Voices of Women programs.
Alumni network and events
Alumni can join our SPExS network to receive occasional email updates, invitations to alumni events, and digital newsletters. Register for Alumni Network.
Supporting our program
As Alumni of the School of Professional and Extended Studies, you are an essential part of our school. By telling your friends, family, faculty, and university administrators about your experience with us, you have helped to sustain the Washington Semester and other programs for nearly 60 years.
There are many ways that you can support our efforts. We would welcome your assistance in marketing to your home school or communicating with prospective students. If you live in the DC region, please let us know if you are interested in being an internship supervisor or in serving as a guest speaker.
We are also looking for alums to organize social events in their hometowns to help us build our alumni networks. And finally, we are seeking alums to profile on our website and in our newsletters. If you would like to organize an event or share your professional accomplishments / service projects, please let us know.
