Explore the unique opportunity to study, intern, live and learn in the nation’s capital through the Delaware in D.C. program, a partnership between the University of Delaware and American University. Delaware in D.C. is an opportunity for select students who have been admitted to the University of Delaware in spring 2018. It is a semester-long program in which first-year, non-degree seeking students study at American University and take classes taught by faculty from both institutions before enrolling full-time at the University of Delaware in the spring semester.
Since college is about setting the foundation for your future, what better way to start college than in a program that places you in the nation’s capital where you will gain valuable real-world work experience while studying at two of the nation’s top institutions. All program participants will have the rare opportunity to intern with one of the many organizations around the city during their fall semester.
Below are some of the companies that you could intern with:
• DC Preparatory Academy
• Democratic National Committee
• EmeraldPlanet & The EmeraldPlanet TV
• Hispanic Link News Service
• LIFT Communities
• Men's Health Network
• National Criminal Justice Association
• Pulmonary Hypertension Association
• Republican National Committee
• TTR Sotheby's International Realty
• U.S. Small Business Administration
• WAMU 88.5 FM
• Washington Animal Rescue League
When it’s time to head north to Newark, you will leave American University and Washington, DC, with 16 credits that will go with you to the University of Delaware (so you can still be on track to graduate), real-world work experience, and a group of lifelong friends and mentors.
