GPS Biotechnology

Are you interested in working on projects that focus on scientific innovation? Or perhaps you want applied science classes to serve as a foundation for graduate program applications. Either way, the Graduate Professional Studies track is a good start because it offers you both, plus exposure to one of the fastest growing career fields.

The program in biotechnology consists of 2 courses in the applied sciences (3 credits each) and a biotechnology industry internship in Washington, DC (3 days per week, 3 credits), for a total of 9 credits earned during the semester.

The 2 courses in Applied Science are selected from the university's semester course offerings, but may include:

  • Molecular Biology
  • Research Methodology Biology
  • Science Writing
  • Regulatory Science
  • Biotechnology
  • Statistical Methods

All classes serve as a foundation to American University’s College of Arts and Sciences Professional Science Master’s Biotechnology Program.

Quote from a student

“I gained biotechnology career experience both inside and outside of the classroom. I faced real-world and intellectual challenges and benefits interning in a laboratory at the Children’s National Medical Center.”
