Early December 2017
Arrival information sent to all accepted students who have registered and paid the program deposit. Information includes details on arrival plans, first few days on campus, and internships.
January 9-10
International Student Orientation Activities
January 11-12
Graduate Professional Studies Orientation (mandatory).
Get ID cards, make course changes and finalize bill paying. (Any student who did not complete their registration forms must come to GPS office before 5:00 pm−this is the last day to register without a $50.00 late registration fee.)
January 15
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (no classes, university closed).
January 16
Internship Fair (morning). Classes begin (afternoon).
January 29
Last day to make changes to Spring 2018 registration (i.e. add or drop classes). Last day to drop fall courses for a 100% refund. All students must begin working at their internships by this date.
January 31
Experiential Learning Forms (internship contracts) due to internship faculty.
February 5
Last day to drop fall courses for a 50% refund.
February 12
Last day to drop fall courses for a 25% refund.
March 11-18
Spring Break (no classes, university offices opened).
March 23
Last day to drop a course. (“W” recorded on transcript for withdrawals from January 29 through March 23.).
April 30
Last Day of Classes and Internships. Professional Development Requirement Due.
May 1
Study Day.
May 2-8
Final Examinations (Make sure to check the final exam schedule on the American University website, or check with your professor before making travel plans.).
