The School of Professional & Extended Studies offers students the opportunity to apply for partial program scholarships.
Scholarships awards are given to students based on a myriad of factors including: academic achievement, financial need, student engagement and commitment to the values of American University. For information about American University’s mission and values, please refer to the Office of the President’s website.
Accepted students can apply for a Graduate Gateway scholarship by completing the online application through the application portal at applyspexs.american.edu. Accepted students will also receive a scholarship application in their admission packet. Scholarships will be reviewed on a rolling basis and recipients are notified via email of their award decision.
Dean’s Scholars Program
Exceptional candidates who submit a Graduate Gateway Scholarship Application will also be considered for the Dean Scholars Program. These students must represent a high level of academic achievement (on average a 3.5 GPA or above), significant community and civic engagement, and have demonstrated a commitment to the academic field of study they will be pursuing while enrolled in the School of Professional & Extended Studies.
These students are selected by the Dean and are recognized at the beginning and end of their semester in the Graduate Gateway Program.
