Associate Director, AU Abroad, American University
Mark Hayes is currently Associate Director of AU Abroad at American University. In this position Mr. Hayes is responsible for overseeing the launch and management of the university's study abroad program for international students, Abroad at AU; for negotiating student mobility agreements with foreign institutions; and for managing its study abroad advisors.
Prior to joining American University, Mr. Hayes held senior marketing positions with Intel Corporation and Asbis Enterprises in Europe. In 1993, he also oversaw the establishment of an international management training center for the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in St. Petersburg, Russia - the School's first overseas operation and one of the largest privately-funded foreign training projects in Russia at the time.
Mr. Hayes received his undergraduate degree in Russian Studies from Amherst College and an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He has lived abroad in Russia, Germany, Cyprus, Australia, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom.
