Intercultural Training Specialist at the Florida State University and Ph.D student at the NSU Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution
Aleksandra Nesic is a doctoral student at NSU’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Studies, Department of Conflict Analysis & Resolution with an emphasis on culture and ethnic conflict. She holds a Baccalaureate of Science in Psychology from University of Florida, and a Masters in Intercultural Service, Leadership and Management with emphasis on Intercultural Communication and International Education from the School of International Training, Graduate Institute of World Learning. Aleksandra also has a Graduate Certificate in Conflict Transformation and is a Master Educator in International Humanitarian Law, certified through the American Red Cross.
She currently works as an Intercultural Specialist for Training and Assessment at the Center for Global Engagement, and is a lecturer at the International Affairs and School of Communication Departments at the Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida. As part of her work, she developed “Global Partner Certificate” professional development Certificate for faculty and staff; implemented program evaluation and assessment projects to measure students’ learning outcomes and global competence development using variety of assessment tools (Intercultural Development Inventory, Global Perspectives Inventory, Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory). She founded the Intercultural Communication and Research Institute (ICRI)- fully granted January 2009, and has taught international humanitarian law, human rights, and intercultural leadership. She developed programs for intercultural, interfaith education and dialogue, cross-cultural training programs, obtained grants for program development and serves on a number of campus internationalization committees.
Aleksandra is an experienced public speaker fluent in English, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, as well as functional in French, Italian, and Spanish. Aleksandra chaired and presented at a number of international, national and regional conferences, and is an active member of several international organizations focused on intercultural communication and international education and exchange. Aleksandra supports and advises non-governmental organizations, PulseWire and Global Peace Exchange and is a founding member of the Global Engagement Group, LLC.
