SPExS actively promotes student community building, service-learning, and social opportunities that encourage learning, healthy interactions, and community engagement. SPExS Association of Student Activities (SASA) is a student-led organization that designs and implements SPExS community events throughout the semester. SASA and its student officers build a spirit of mutual understanding, cooperation, and communication among the SPExS community. Our events range from community service projects and open forums to social events all organized by students, with staff support. SASA meets weekly to discuss event plans and promote student engagement.
SASA events throughout the fall and spring semesters include barbecues, a Super Bowl Watch Party, Second Chance Prom, Winter Masquerade Ball, Karaoke Night, Nationals game, themed food nights sponsored by Bon Appétit Catering and more. The association also plans community service events, fundraisers for local/international organizations and bring special guest speakers to the Tenley campus. The association meets once a week in the evenings to plan their events and discuss students’ needs and concerns. To join SASA contact the Student Services and Events Coordinator at SPExS at 202-895-4980.
SASA is led by the association officers and advised by the Student Services and Events Coordinator for SPExS. Admitted Washington Semester students who receive a Work-Award as part of their financial aid package can be selected to become an officer and use the position for their work-award for the semester.
