Undergraduate:
Washington Semester- Established in 1947, the Washington Semester Program is an experiential learning academic program that includes 8 credits of academic seminar in one of 11 topic areas, 4 credits of internship, and 3-4 credits of independent research or elective course.
Washington Internship for Native Students– offers American Indian/Alaska native/ Native Hawaiian students the opportunity to build leadership skills while living, studying, and interning in Washington DC.
Summer Internship Program– Students gain hands-on skills interning for nine weeks in Washington DC with a professional organization and augment their hands-on experience by attending a seminar once a week in their field of study.
International Gateway Program– This program is composed of academic bridge courses along with course work designed to assist with the American cultural transition for undergraduate international students.
Washington Mentorship Program– This 15-credit fall semester program gives students admitted for the spring semester at American University an insider’s perspective on Washington, DC. Based on the highly successful academic model of SPExS’ Washington Semester program, the Washington Mentorship Program is grounded in the best practices of experiential and traditional academic learning.
Partnerships:
UM in DC- This 15-credit fall semester program gives students admitted for the spring semester at University of Miami an insider’s perspective on Washington DC. Based on the highly successful academic model of SPExS’ Washington Semester program, the Washington Mentorship Program is grounded in the best practices of experiential and traditional academic learning.
Brandeis in DC- This 15-credit fall semester program gives students admitted for the spring semester at Brandeis University an insider’s perspective on Washington DC. Based on the highly successful academic model of SPExS’ Washington Semester program, the Washington Mentorship Program is grounded in the best practices of experiential and traditional academic learning.
Graduate:
Graduate Gateway Program– The Graduate Gateway Program is a one-semester program offered each fall and spring that introduces students to graduate level course work and internships in Washington DC in their respective field.
GRE Prep Courses– Preparatory course to take the Graduate Record Examination.
Special Courses:
Voices of Women– Continuing education seminar in Women’s Studies.
