Wonk Wars Registration Form (entry deadline is May 14th)

Teams are awarded points for participation in activities throughout the week. Bonus points can be earned for team diversity and individual recognitions. Winners are determined by the team that has earned the most points throughout the week. Please refer to the point system for detailed information on how to earn points. Wonk Wars participants who do not win will be automatically entered in a second raffle for additional participation prizes.

Rules of Wonk Wars

1. All teams must have five AU staff members (preferably from different offices or departments in order to earn the maximum amount of points). Each team must have a designated captain who will serve as the point of contact throughout the Wonk Wars. Do you want to participate but don’t have a team? You can register as individual player ("free agent") and be placed on a team with other free agents. Register online here (deadline is May 15)
2. In order for teams to earn points for participation, at least two team members must participate or attend the activity, unless noted otherwise. The specific details about earning points are explained in the point structure. Teams are required to sign in on site with the designated staff at the time of the specific activity to receive the appropriate points. Teams that do not sign in during the time of the event will not receive points, no exceptions!
3. The winning team is the one that receives the most points by participating in Staff Appreciation Week activities throughout the week. Winners will be announced at the picnic lunch on Thursday, May 24th. Updates regarding team standings and points awarded will be available on the Staff Appreciation web site daily by 6 p.m.

Friday

Bike to Work Day

Teams will be awarded points if at least two team members participate in this or another physical activity.

Monday

Shake 'n' Bake

Points will be awarded to team members who participate in either the "shake" or "bake" activities. Additional points will be awarded if a team member enters a cupcake in the bake-off and wins in any category. Specific details explained in point system below.

Campus Scavenger Hunt

In the multi-day Scavenger Hunt, team captains will be emailed clues and instructions by noon on Monday, and teams will need to find all items and present them at the Wonk Wars table on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Tuesday

Zumba Class

Teams will be awarded points if at least two members participate in this or another physical activity.

Staff Performance Awards and Years of Service Luncheon

Teams will earn bonus points if a team member is recognized during this luncheon.

Wednesday

Book & Media Swap and Professional Clothing Drive

Teams will be awarded points if at least 2 team members participate in either one of these activities.

Thursday

Volleyball Tournament

Points will be awarded if one team member participates in the game. Additional points will be awarded if two team members cheer on one match. 

Show your AU Pride

Points will be awarded if at least two team members show school spirit by wearing AU paraphernalia (t-shirt, hat, shorts, etc.). Bonus points will be awarded if entire team participates and can creatively show AU pride and team spirit.

Alumni Photo

Bonus points will be awarded to each team that has any members who are AU alumni (any degree, but students must be a graduate by Staff Appreciation Week to be considered).

KNOW Your Numbers Wellness Events

Points awarded if one team member participates in these events. Bonus points awarded if additional team members participate.

Board Games

Earn points if two team members play one of the board games or puzzles.

Campus Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt ends today. One team member must submit scavenger hunt items to the Wonk Wars table by 10 a.m. to earn points.

Where in AU is Clawed? The final Wonk Wars Challenge

10 a.m. - 10:20 a.m. - Check in at the Wonk Wars table in front of the Mary Graydon Center on the roadway. Only one member from the team can participate in this challenge. 

10:20 a.m. - Review the rules of the game

Wonk Wars Point Structure

Team Formation	25	125	Points are awarded based on the diversity of the team. Teams will receive 25 points for each office or department represented on the team.
Cupcake Bake-Off	5	25	5 points are awarded if a team has one member enter a cupcake into the bake-off. Additional 5 points will be awarded if two additional team members attend bake-off and taste cupcakes. Teams also have the opportunity to earn 5 additional points for winning a specific category. ***No matter how many cupcakes are entered in the competition only 5 points can be awarded, but multiple submissions have a higher change of winning, and thus the chances of receiving additional points for winning a category.
Participation in Physical Activities	5	5	Team earns 5 points if two team members participate in the Shake-off, Zumba class, or Bike to Work day.
Book & Media Swap and Professional Clothing Drive	10	10	Team earns 5 points if at least two team members participate in the Book & Media swap or donates clothes.
Volleyball Tournament	5	10	Team earns 5 points if one team member participates in a Volleyball game. Additional 5 points earned if two team members attend and cheers on a volleyball game. ***Attendees only are required to attend one match to earn points for their team.
Board Games	5	5	Team earns 5 points if two team members play one board game or puzzle.
Health Screenings	5	25	Team earns 5 points if one team member participates in the health screenings. Additional 5 points awarded for each extra team member who completes the screenings.
Where in AU is Clawed?	5	10	Team earns 5 points if they participate in the challenge (one team member only). Additional 5 points will be awarded if the team member wins the challenge.
Campus Scavenger Hunt	5	75	Team earns 10 points for each correct location visited.   Additional 5 points award for each bonus fact or task that is completed or item collected from the specific office.
AU Team Pride	5	10	Team earns 5 points if two team members are dressed to show their AU pride. Team will earn additional 5 points if entire team participates and shows team spirit.
