AhealthyU Screenings & Free Seated Massage

Healthy habits today lead to a healthier life tomorrow, and what better time know your numbers than right now? Get a free health screening including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, bone density, vision, and body composition. No fasting is required. We'll also have a health educator, diabetes educator, and nutrition counselor available to talk to you. Also, if you have your health screening done during Staff Appreciation Week, you will be entered into a drawing to win one of three iPads.*

We encourage you to sign up in advance; there are only a limited number of walk-in screenings available. Register online.

AhealthyU also will provide FREE five-minute seated massages. First come, first served!

Staff Volleyball Tournament

Enter your department’s team in the annual staff volleyball tournament! The winning team will receive the volleyball trophy and bragging rights for the whole year! Winner will be announced at 11:30 a.m. or upon tournament's completion on the steps of the Mary Graydon Center. Register here by May 16!

Would you like to get a better handle on your day-to-day cash management? This session covers budgeting, saving, debt management, credit scores, and is designed to help you leave with an action plan to follow.

NEW! AU Goes Green: A Guided Tour of AU's Arboretum & Sustainability Efforts

Join staff from AU's Office of Sustainability and the Campus Arboretum and see why AU really is the greenest campus! This tour highlights our award winning arboretum and gardens and our nationally recognized sustainability initiatives. Committed to an active pursuit of sustainability, American University is home to the largest number of solar electric and hot water systems and green roofs in the DC area and is recognized as an accredited arboretum!

This year, Staff Appreciation is going greener than ever before! For the first time, the staff picnic will be a zero waste event! That means no waste will be sent to a landfill. Everything either will be recycled or composted off-site, helping AU get closer to our zero waste goal. To help, look for the brand new orange bins across campus for organic waste collection.

AthankU for your Thyme: a Green Gift!

During the annual staff picnic, pick up a complimentary potted herb as a thank you for your time and service dedicated to AU. Each year the university appreciates staff service by giving away a special gift. This year, each staff member has a green gift waiting! Choose from basil, thyme, rosemary, cilantro, etc. This is a popular giveaway, and we ask that each staff member take just one plant (until 1:30 p.m. after which any remaining plants may be collected).
