1. What is the TESOL Community Association?

This Association is organized and maintained by AU TESOL Alumni in the interest of building an inclusive community for mutual support.

2. Who can join the TESOL Community Association?

Although American University (esp. in terms of benefits like "alumni audit") only considers those who earned a degree as AU alumni, the AU TESOL Program (because we have a different purpose than the University Alumni Association), considers TESOL Certificate holders, and in fact, anyone who ever completed a AU TESOL course as a potential TESOL Community Association member.

 

3. What are the benefits of being a member?

  • Mentor recent graduates of the program or current TESOL students
  • "Be sent a hard copy of the most recent version of the AU TESOL Working Papers."
  • Receive a silver commemorative TESOL key chain
  • Access the TESOL Alumni Association website to learn about alum birthdays, weddings, & births, to read and/or download the"alumni lesson plan of the quarter"
  • Access to a quarterly Alumni E-Newsletter
  • Participate on the AU TESOL Alumni listserv (TALUM-L, where all subscribers may post and exchange messages)
  • Be selected as a presenter for the annual Alumni Spotlight Presentation given by a TESOL alum.
  • Be selected as a presenter for the annual Alumni Workshop
  • Participate in TESOL Alumni Association events (like the Labor Day picnic)
  • Get in touch with fellow alums
  • Be an Association officer or regional representative (elections to be held in March 2005)

Lifetime membership is only $10!
