Academic Excellence Awards
Spring 2008
The AU TESOL Program is pleased to announce the Sixth Annual Academic Excellence Awards competition. One award is for the best TESOL research paper. The second award is for the best lesson plan or class-based project. Winners of each award will receive a plaque recognizing their achievement and a year’s membership in TESOL International.
Any student enrolled in a TESOL or ESOL certificate or degree program during the academic year 2007-2008 is eligible to apply to one or both competitions. Students who graduated in Summer 2007 or Fall 2007 may enter the Spring 2008 competition. Work submitted must have been initiated in a course offered directly by the AU TESOL Program (not through another academic department at American University or through a Consortium school).
Research papers or class-based projects may be individually written or co-authored. Lesson plans must be individually authored. There are no page limits. Students may submit no more than one entry per award category. Students completing their MA programs are especially encouraged to submit research papers and/or lesson plans that are part of their portfolios. However, entries are welcomed from students at any point in their programs.
Entry forms for the competitions are available in the TESOL Office (McKinley 156) and on the TESOL website (Awards Entry Form 2008 ). All submissions for AY 2007-2008 (with accompanying entry form) are due to Professor Brock Brady by Friday, May 9. Selections will be made by the TESOL faculty.
For questions, please consult Professor Brady.
