Wireless network usage on AU's campus has doubled over the previous academic year, as shown in the graph below.
We hope you have benefitted from our recent efforts to improve the campus wireless network infrastructure, as we are positioning ourselves to meet and exceed our students' rising expectations for service readiness and reliability.
- Twenty additional wireless access points were installed over the summer in the Ward Circle building, so that every classroom has its own access point to ensure stronger signals and faster speeds. These access points also add support for the 802.11a network standard for computers that are equipped with these type of network cards.
- Additional access points were also installed in the Letts and Centennial residence halls to increase capacity and improve connections.
- Seventy-two network switches were replaced in twenty-eight AU buildings, both on- and off-campus, to increase the reliability and availability of the network.
- Connections to the wireless network from the main Quad have improved, after the technology was recently replaced.
Wireless network connectivity is closely monitored by OIT engineers, so they can quickly resolve any problems that you might be encountering and identify locations that are reaching capacity.
