Outstanding Service to the University Community

2013 Service Award

2013 Award for Outstanding Service to the University Community recipients Sarah McBride (SPA '13) and Joseph Corcoran (SOC '13).

CRITERIA: Student must have been admitted to a degree program as of September 2012. Requires demonstration of unique contributions and sustained service that will leave a lasting impact on the University community, whether through student government, public service, organizational leadership, or a combination of several categories. Nominated students must be eligible to participate in the May 2013 commencement ceremonies.


NOMINATION PROCESS:

  1. Students, faculty, and staff of the AU community may nominate students for University Student Awards.
  2. Nominations must be submitted to the nominee’s school/college dean (or for the Service award nominations may also be submitted to the Dean of Students) by Friday, March 22.
  3. Before completing the nomination, please review the criteria and submission process for each award. 
  4. Each nomination letter must reflect the criteria identified in the award. We discourage letters that intend to capture nominations for more than one award.
  5. From this initial pool of nominations, the deans of CAS, Kogod, SIS, SOC, SPA, WCL and the Dean of Students will select and forward two nominees to the Vice President of Campus Life by Friday, March 29.

     IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR NOMINATING A STUDENT FOR A 2013 OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY AWARD:
    To nominate a student, you MUST go through the AU portal (myAU.american.edu) beginning on February 13. Once you log into the portal, click on Life@AU. Once clicked, your personalized links should show a link to "University Student Award Nomination." Click on the link to begin to fill out the nomination form. Your nomination forms can be saved and edited until the nomination deadline.
