    Instituted in 1988, the Staff Performance Awards Program was revised in 2004 and again in 2007 to better promote and reward outstanding performance by staff at the university.

    The university annually recognizes students who have made significant contributions through scholarly activities, as well as service benefiting the university community, whether through student government, public service, or organizational leadership.

    President Kerwin and Alumni Board president Erin Fuller presented the 2012 Alumni Recognition Award to Genna Griffith, CAS/BA '01, during All-American Weekend.

A Note about University Awards

Each year, American University recognizes the exceptional achievements of outstanding faculty, students, staff, and alumni through the University Awards.
