Explore the institutions and meet the practitioners who determine federal policy in the Public Law course. This program traces American public law through its origination, formulation, implementation, and interpretation. Current issues confronting the republic and the processes by which decisions are made constitute the core of the program.

Take an up close look at the pivotal topics of our time and the processes by which the U.S. governmental system addresses them. The goal of the Public Law seminar is to provide each student with an advanced knowledge of the operations of the institutions of the government as they fit into a constitutional framework established by the Founding Fathers. From free speech to right to counsel to separation of church and state to understanding the the finer points of the federal judicial and legislative systems, you will discuss and dissect the full spectrum of current public law topics and leave with a realistic view of the possibilities and limitations of the public law making process.

Through discussions with a large and diverse set of prominent guest speakers, meetings with high ranking government officials and knowledgeable people in all realms of public policy creation, as well as an education experience in an internship, you will have the opportunity to witness first hand the principles which are central to the creation American public law.

Former students have found this semester course to be excellent preparation for students who wish to attend law school and those who would like to decide whether law school is the appropriate next step in their lives.
