"Artistic Vibrancy & Creativity in Programming"
featuring Alan Brown

Many arts groups are asking questions about the sustainability of efforts to expand and diversify participation, especially in regards to programs and activities that activate audiences and participants in new ways. Good marketing and education programs are certainly important, but the primary challenge of building participation lies squarely in the realm of artistic programming. Alan Brown will reflect on the core process within any nonprofit arts organization – the way it makes programming decisions. Does the programming process generate a sufficiently creative stream of programming ideas that excite donors, engage audiences and capture the imagination of the community? While every arts group may have a somewhat different approach to program planning, several key principles of artistic vibrancy are broadly applicable and will help to assure long-term sustainability.
