Presentation Guidelines

Format:

Paper panel sessions are 90 minutes in total, with approximately 4 – 5 presentations followed by questions and discussion. Questions and discussion will either take place following individual presentations or after all session presentations have been made, depending on the session moderator.

Visual Aids:

Presenters should prepare presentation slides in Powerpoint or PDF format. Powerpoint/PDF presentations should be sent to sa9794a@american.edu no later than October 15, with the subject line formatted: [last name]_[presentation title]_[date of presentation: November2 or November3]

Session Moderator:

Session moderators will be assigned by the Conference Review Committee unless otherwise noted.

Format:

Roundtable sessions are 90 minutes in total, with approximately 60 minutes allotted for presentations and 30 minutes for discussions and feedback.

Visual Aids:

Roundtables do not have to prepare Powerpoint presentations, although a basic introduction slide is recommended. Presenters may bring printed handouts (20 - 30 copies recommended). Any digital presentation/intro slide should be sent to sa9794a@american.edu no later than October 15, with the subject line formatted: [last name]_[presentation title]_[date of presentation: November2 or November3]

Session moderators will be assigned by the Conference Review Committee unless otherwise noted.

Format:

Poster session is 60 minutes in total and will take place on Friday, November 2, in conjunction with the light reception at 5pm. Posters should be set up on provided poster boards with corresponding poster numbers no later than 4:30pm.

Visual Aids:

Recommended poster orientation is landscape, sized 36” high x 48” wide (91.4 cm high x 121.9 cm wide). Please print out your poster before the conference and bring it with you. The American University Library does offer poster printing service, please note that there is a 48 hour turnaround period for any submitted print requests and Walk-in print jobs are accommodated based on staff availability and printer demand.
