Capital Teaching Residency and The New Teacher Project Master's Degree Options for Participants, Alumni, and Staff

American University has partnered with Capital Teaching Residency and the TNTP Academy to offer Master degree options to teachers, alumni and staff. CTR and TNTP affiliated participants will be able to choose from degrees in the School of Education. These programs are built on a cohort-based design, include discounted tuition for CTR and TNTP participants, and are designed for those participants who want to continue to make a difference in the lives of children and transform public schools.

To Apply

The priority deadline to apply for fall enrollment is Feb 1 and the 2 nd deadline is March 1. Applications are accepted and processed on a rolling admissions basis until cohorts are filled. The application process for CTR and TNTP participants, alumni and staff include the submission of:
  • Click here to complete the online application
  • Official transcripts (sealed) from any institutions previously attended;

  • Special Education and MAT Candidates must submit passing scores on the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Exam (CORE) electronically using code 5007

  • a Letter of Intent (which is included in the online application) written by the applicant related to his or her background and career interests.

SOE will waive the application fee and the letters of recommendation requirement for CTR and TNTP applicants.
