Lydia Morris Fettig (she, her, hers) spent her early life in coastal Connecticut and upstate New York before migrating west to Oregon to complete her undergraduate work in social science at Reed College and Portland State University. After returning to the east coast in 1998 to earn an M.F.A. in creative writing, she met the person she would marry, got married, gave birth to a child, gave birth to fraternal twins, rescued several animals, and completed a short stint as a Parole and Probation Agent for the State of Maryland. Prior to teaching at AU, she taught writing and literature courses for four years at University of Maryland University College (now University of Maryland Global Campus). Her interests include modern, post-modern, and contemporary American literature; crime and detective series; the study of deviance; and the complex relationships between humans and other animals. Her short stories have been published in Rude Girl Press, Gargoyle Magazine, and Abundant Grace.
