Dr. Ward studies number theory and arithmetic geometry, including sphere packing, algebraic surfaces, and their connections to physics. When he is not sharing the beauty and joy of mathematics with students or doing mathematical research (“inventing wheels”, as he calls it), he creates mathematical artwork and is active in game design. He also co-directs the DC Math Circle and the DC region’s Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival. His upcoming book Adventures in Proof! is set to be pre-released sometime next year.
