Jennifer Sichel holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Chicago, where she recently completed a dissertation titled "Criticism without Authority: Gene Swenson, Jill Johnston, Gregory Battcock." Her research focuses on 20th-century art, criticism, and visual culture of the United States, with an emphasis on questions of sexuality, social and political engagement, performance, and language. Her work has been supported by fellowships from the Smithsonian Archives of American Art, the Terra Foundation for American Art, and the Humanities Division at the University of Chicago. She holds a BA in art history and philosophy from Boston University and an MA from the Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art.
