Anika Simpson, PhD, is a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at American University. She also serves as the Director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program. Prior to her visiting appointment, Dr. Simpson was Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Morgan State University. She also served as the coordinator MSU’s Women’s and Gender Studies program, which was established under her leadership, and was co-chair of the LGBTQA Advisory Council. Her publications focus on black feminism, African American philosophy, and sexuality. She is currently working on a book entitled Marriage Abolition in African America.
Research interests include African-American Philosophy, Feminism, Social and Political Philosophy.
