A report by Erik Alda, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Justice, Law and Criminology, finds that despite a years-long boost in budgetary resources, Guatemala's national police force is underperforming amid an enduring wave of violence.

The report, "How Are Police Doing in Combating Crime? An Exploratory Study of Efficiency Analysis of the Policia Nacional Civil in Guatemala," appears in Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies & Management, and was reported on in the online publication In Sight Crime: Organized Crime in the Americas.
