The annual Graduation Fair will take place Tuesday, March 27, and Wednesday, March 28, from noon to 6 p.m. in the Mary Graydon Center, Rooms 2 – 4. This is an opportunity for graduating students to check their graduation status, determine their cap size, rent caps and gowns, purchase commencement and AU mementos (diploma frames, graduation announcements, class rings, etc.), and contribute to the Senior Class gift. Enjoy light refreshments and enter to win prizes. The university's commencement photographer, GradImages, will hold a free graduation portrait sitting. For more information, please contact the Campus Store at 202-885-6300 or american.bkstr.com.
In addition to organizing the Graduation Fair, the Campus Store sells class rings, generic graduation announcements, diploma frames, and hundreds of AU shirts, sweatshirts, caps, and other souvenirs. They will have extended hours during commencement weekend.
If you miss the commencement ceremonies on May 12-13, view the archived videos on UStream. A link will be available in the Archives section of the website.
For guests’ convenience, American University contracts with a local florist to sell floral bouquets in front of Bender Arena on commencement days. To place a special order, contact Chevy Chase Florist at 301-986-0986.
A commercial photographer from GradImages will photograph each student approaching the stage and shaking hands with President Sylvia Burwell. Following commencement, GradImages will send proofs and ordering information to students. Parents and guests will not be permitted on or near the stage to take photographs during the ceremony.
Students can receive a $5 discount on photo orders over $25 by registering their email addresses prior to the commencement ceremonies. Go to the GradImages pre-event registration site and enter "American University," then select the correct ceremony and register your email address.
Beginning in late February, personalized graduation announcements, which include the graduate's name, can be ordered directly from our vendor, Herff Jones.
