Weather Update—AU Delayed Opening, Friday 1/19

Due to inclement weather, on Friday, January 19, AU will open at 11 a.m.

Due to inclement weather, on Friday, January 19, AU will open at 11 a.m.
The university's operating status decision applies to the main campus, Washington College of Law, and other off-campus buildings.
Employees working remotely as part of the university’s hybrid work approach with Friday scheduled as a remote day are expected to continue normal telework hours while the university is in modified operations due to weather. Hybrid employees with Friday scheduled as an on-campus day should report at 11 a.m. Personnel with weather, grounds, safety or other essential campus operations responsibilities are expected to report on time as instructed. Employees can also take unscheduled leave and anyone wishing to do so should contact their manager.
Students with in-person classes scheduled to take place before the university’s delayed opening are to check email, Canvas, MyWCL (for law school students), or social media for updates from their faculty.
Faculty with in-person classes scheduled to take place before the university’s delayed may arrange for alternative class meetings (possibly including virtual meetings during the scheduled class time) and/or provide work for students to complete. Please be mindful of students with accommodation and accessibility needs in these alternate class meetings and/or classwork.
The Washington College of Law will open when the university opens at 11 a.m. The WCL Community may have access 24/7 to the Pence Law Library with their AU ID. Reference Services available via email at reference@wcl.american.edu.

Also, please note the following about additional campus services:
• The Terrace Dining Room (TDR) will be open to the university community and maintain regular hours of operation, which is 7 a.m to 9 p.m. Please note that depending on the staffing, we may operate with a limited menu. Eagle’s Express will open with limited staff. Panera, Starbucks, Subway, Qdoba, District Pickle, True Burger, Halal Shack, Baba’s Pizza, Hissho Sushi, and East Campus Market will open as staffing permits. • The Jacobs Fitness Center and the Cassell Fitness Center will open at 6 a.m.
• Library operations will operate under the 24/7 status. The first floor of Bender Library will remain open to faculty, staff, and students with card swipe access. Full library access, including the Circulation and Information desks, will be staffed upon resuming full university operations.
• The AU Campus Bookstore will open when university opens at 11 a.m.
• The Student Health Center will open at when university opens at 11 a.m.
• The AU shuttles will operate pending weather outcomes.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate any changes to our operating status, services, or activities.
