All members of the American University Community will receive training on the new Title IX regulations, and there will be targeted training for faculty, staff, and students involved in the complaint resolution process.

Those involved in the complaint resolution process include the Title IX Coordinator, any investigator, any decision-maker, and any person who facilities an informal resolution (such as mediation).

The Title IX Coordinator, Investigators, Hearing Panel members, Sanctioning Panels members, university administrators rendering decisions on sanctions and appeal, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process will receive training on Title IX Sexual Harassment, the scope of the University’s education program or activity, how to conduct an investigation and grievance process including hearings, appeals, and informal resolution processes, as applicable, and how to serve impartially, including by avoiding prejudgment of the facts at issue, conflicts of interest, and bias.
