Board votes to conclude successful AnewAU campaign
American University’s Board of Trustees voted on November 19 to conclude the successful AnewAU campaign at the end of the calendar year. To date, more than $211 million has been raised in support of several campus initiatives.
The campaign’s goals include strengthening academic programs, developing first-rate facilities, and establishing resources for learning, enriched student experiences and enhanced financial capacity. AnewAU was officially and publicly launched in October 2003, with $63 million in cash and pledges already raised.
Much buzz on campus this year has surrounded the new School of International Service building, which is both beautiful and sustainable. Board of Trustees Chair Gary Abramson is confident that the coming renovation of the McKinley building as a new home for the School of Communication will generate the same kind of excitement and opportunity.
More than 30,000 individuals and couples have already contributed. To be included in the most successful campaign in AU’s history, donors may mail checks postmarked by December 31, make gifts online by credit card through 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on that date, or donate using a credit card by phone through December 29. Any questions about how to make a year-end gift may be directed to 202-885-5900.
Annual gifts of any size help increase AU’s percentage of alumni participation, which factors into US News & World Report rankings and other important evaluations of the university’s financial health.
