Equally exciting is the momentum of Change Can’t Wait: The Campaign for American University. It’s been just over a year since the public launch of our campaign, and gifts have created or expanded more than 100 scholarship funds. In addition, support for equity-based funds has increased 68 percent year over year, and the university’s first fully endowed Eminent Scholar Chair was established. The campaign continues to amplify the changemaking work of AU’s renowned faculty—just last year, groundbreaking faculty work aimed at reducing nationwide food waste resulted in a $15 million grant from the National Science Foundation, the university’s largest externally funded grant to date. Across the AU community, Change Can’t Wait: The Campaign for American University is advancing research with impact, empowering our scholars to take on society’s most complex challenges, and promoting student thriving. 

At American University, our students define us. I am forever inspired by their passion and drive to improve the world around them. We must ensure that all aspects of an AU education are accessible to every changemaking student—no matter their background or circumstance.
