Direct admission to the Kogod School of Business is offered to high school seniors and transfer students who meet American University's Undergraduate Admissions Standards.
All applicants, regardless of intended major, are evaluated using the same admission criteria and standards. Those who are admitted to AU will begin undergraduate studies in their selected major of study during their first semester (or take General Education courses if they are undeclared).

Each semester, Kogod welcomes new transfer students from two year, four year, and international institutions.
Kogod offers individual academic advising sessions to help you plan your transfer and determine the transferability of coursework completed. Unofficial evaluations of credit are available to students who have completed and submitted an application for admission.
Admitted transfer students receive a Kogod Admit Packet following admission to American University. The packet includes an official evaluation of credits that have been accepted and will be applied to a Kogod degree program. The Kogod Transfer Guide also provides information regarding class registration and making the transition to our academic community.
All new transfer students are provided a Transfer Mentor; a current student who successfully made the transition from their previous institution and is actively involved in the Kogod community. Your transfer mentor will serve as a guide and key resource as you seek to adjust and become more involved in the Kogod community.
