AU’s online Master of Science in International Relations and Business program is preparing the next generation of leaders to navigate complex international business environments across borders and cultures. As a student in our online program, you will master an array of key business skills, develop an understanding of corporate responsibility and public policy on a global scale, and gain the skills you need to achieve global influence.

The business and international relations degree is offered through a joint program developed by Kogod School of Business and the School of International Service (SIS)—ranked the No. 8 international relations school worldwide by Foreign Policy magazine in 2018.[1]

Curriculum

The skills-based MS in International Relations and Business curriculum is designed to promote an advanced understanding of how the global economy, policy environment, and business strategy function collectively. Through weekly online class sessions and self-paced course work, you will explore how international commerce and cultural differences factor into business decisions within the global economy.

The 36-credit program can be completed on a full-time or part-time schedule in as few as 18 months and includes core courses and elective courses in topics including financial accounting, financial management, and global economics. Online learning is supplemented with a hands-on immersion in a global business hub and a culminating capstone project.

During the global immersion experience, you will participate in a variety of learning experiences designed to build on the program curriculum and help you develop practical and interpersonal career skills. Grow your network and collaborate with other professionals as you expand cultural understanding and make invaluable global connections.

Admissions

American University's Kogod School of Business seeks candidates who strive to become global business leaders.

To apply to earn your master’s in international relations and business online at AU, you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. GMAT and GRE scores are not required. The program has four start dates throughout the year: January, April, July, and October. Applications are accepted and admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis.

To complete your application, you must submit the following:

  • Completed online application
  • Application fee
  • Personal statement
  • Resume
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Official transcripts
  • GRE/GMAT scores (optional)
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (for international applicants)
